“A strong philanthropic infrastructure leads to an overall stronger, more creative, and more inclusive community. Toronto is such an energetic and socially aware city. It feels fabulous to be contributing to that.”

our mission

The Phelan Charitable Foundation is focused on supporting the vitality of communities and of people. To this end, the Foundation’s grants are directed toward causes associated with the arts, the humanities and medicine. The Foundation operates on the belief that the health of people is intimately connected to the health of the communities they inhabit, and that the art of healing can take many forms. In line with a vision of healthy communities that centres on vital creative cultures, the foundation supports a wide range of emerging and established arts programs.

Since its establishment in Toronto in 2010, the Phelan Charitable Foundation has donated to a wide range of local charities, as well as those that operate in a national context. Phelan Charitable Foundation grants support everything from established, Toronto-based arts institutions to programs that offer underprivileged children access to the arts; and from cutting edge medical research to organizations aimed at alleviating suffering for the chronically ill.
